Xylitol is a good-tasting bulk sweetener which is reduced in calories and dentally safe. Approved in more than 35 countries, its sweetness and bulk make Xylitol an increasingly popular ingredient in foods, pharmaceuticals and oral health products. Discovered in 1891 by German chemist Emil Fischer, Xylitol has been used as a sweetening agent in human food since the 1960s. Xylitol is a white crystalline powder that is odorless, with a pleasant, sweet taste. It is gaining increasing acceptance as an alternative sweetener due to its role in reducing the development of dental caries (cavities).
From the Journal of The American Dental Association:
Xylitol has recently received positive support in the Journal Of The American Dental Association. "Xylitol is an effective preventive agent against dental caries... " Beiswanger, BB, Boneta AE, Mau MS, Katz BP, Proskin HM, Stookey GK. J. Am. Dent. Assoc. 1998;129:1623-6.
A study conducted at Harvard School of Dental Medicine concluded: "Xylitol can significantly
decrease the incidence of dental caries." Hayes, Catherine, DMD; DMSc. The effect of non-carcinogenic sweeteners on the prevention of dental caries: A review of evidence. Harvard School Of Dental Medicine.
From Harvard School of Dental Medicine:
"Since the evidence suggests a strong caries protective effect for Xylitol, it would be unethical to deprive subjects of its potential benefits." ~ Dr. Catherine Hayes of Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Journal of Dental Education. Vol. 65, No.10.
Other Expert References on Xylitol:
"Xylitol has therefore a clear advantage over sorbitol and other bulk and intense sweeteners. It is the only one to show both passive and active anti-caries effects. Its values for caries prevention both as an alternative sweetener ... and as an active anti-caries agent ... is considerable, and demands further attention" ~ Prof. Ronnie Levine OBE, Scientific Advisor to the UK HEA

This product looked awesome, until I noticed one of the ingredients was phosphoric acid. It has xylitol, which is great, but phosphoric acid is known to dissolve calcium from teeth and erode the enamel. You might as well be swishing diet soda around your teeth! Ok, perhaps the amount of acid in this is less than is in soda, but even if that's true, why would I want to swish any amount of it around my teeth?

I love my coffee but I have tried everything to keep my teeth white. I use whitening strips, trays, and pens to keep my teeth white. I live in LA and all I see are sparking white teeth everywhere I look! I found the Briteshots Coffee and Tea Chaser on the site and thought it was a perfect solution to my coffee drinking habit. I used it everyday and I do see noticeable results. The chaser doesn't necessarily whiten my teeth, but my teeth are not as stained and yellow as they would be normally. By using the chaser, I don't have to whiten my teeth as frequently anymore. And I can still enjoy my daily coffee without worrying about what it will do to my teeth.
