Natural saliva contains calcium, phosphate, and fluoride which in combination with certain salivary protein help to strengthen tooth enamel and defend against plaque acid by replenishing these minerals which are lost from the tooth surface during demineralization. Demineralization occurs in the presence of acid foods/drink, cavity causing bacteria and tooth bleaching. Saliva actually remineralizes the tooth surface.

RECALDENT™ (CPP-ACP) – Bio-available Calcium and Phosphate:

Contains RECALDENT (CPP-ACP). Casein Phosphopeptide (CPP) are natural occurring molecules which are able to bind calcium and phosphate ions and stabilize Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP).

Adheres easily to soft tissue, pellicle, plaque and even hydroxyapatite. Reacts similar to the mineral/statherin relation in saliva supplying bio-available calcium and phosphate required for remineralization to take place.

Under acidic conditions, RECALDENT (CPP-ACP) releases calcium and phosphate ions into tooth enamel.
