Therasol is a non-staining oral antiseptic designed for use by dental professionals, It’s also gentle enough to be used daily in home care programs. The makers of the original Therasol have always had lots of requests for a saccharin-free version of Therasol and we agree, it would be an improvement. In place of the Saccharin is the cutting edge ingredient Xylitol. Xylitol is a non-nutritive, naturally occurring, sugar substitute. It’s found in many plants and vegetables, but mostly produced by converting the xylose in wood and maize. Unlike sucrose and Xylose, Xylitol does not affect insulin levels, Even better, Xylitol doesn’t promote microbial growth, thus allowing uninterrupted remineralization. In a systematic review of the literature going back to 1970, regular Xylitol use has been shown to reduce caries rates by up 70%!. Therasol needs some sweetening to counteract the slightly bitter taste of the anti-microbial ingredients.

Recommended Home Usage: General Usage TheraSol can be used just like a toothpaste by brushing it onto the tongue, teeth and gums with a toothbrush. It can also be used as a mouthwash gargle.
Shallow Pockets(4mm) Apply TheraSol with a toothbrush, Proxibrush, etc. by dipping the brush into the TheraSol or by taking a small sip and then brushing. It can also be applied with an electric toothbrush like the Sonicare. We recommend using a sulcular toothbrushing technique like the modified Bass technique to brush TheraSol along the gumline.
Deep Pockets(>4mm) Because of the limited reach of toothbrushes and floss, we recommend irrigating deep pockets with a subgingival irrigator like the Via-Jet or Pocket Care equipped with a cannula-style tip. If your patient has a Via-jet powered irrigator, be sure they have either a Cannula Adaptor attachment. OraTec also offers the Pocket Care, a hand-held deep pocket irrigator
Because of my bleeding gums and gum recession, my dentist recommended Therasol. I rinse with it during the morning and brush it along the gum line. At night, I use the Therasol with my Waterpik. I feel it does a pretty good job of killing the bacteria in my mouth; better than Listerine or Scope. After 2 weeks of use, I could see an improvement on my gums. I will definitely continue using Therasol!
